Executive Director, Daystar Life Center
Jane Trocheck Walker is the Executive Director of Daystar Life Center, Inc, an agency that provides “basic needs assistance to our neighbors in need” for the past 15 years. Previously she was the Deputy Director at the St. Petersburg Free Clinic where she had spent over 21 years. She has more than 38 years experience working in direct service with people in poverty, the unheard and the unserved in Pinellas County. She has excellent knowledge of our area’s resources and has a long history of collaborating closely with other agencies to meet client needs. She helped to found and maintain support of local coalitions and networking groups. She was one of the original organizers of Hunger Free Pinellas and Hunger Free Florida, the Pinellas Ex- offender Re-Entry Coalition of Pinellas County, Kinship Care Relative Caregiver programs, and back to school Carefairs in Pinellas.
Collaborative efforts include Human Services Coalition of Pinellas County, Pinellas County Homeless Coalition, Pinellas County Department of Social Services-serving as a Hearings Officer, Bay Pines STANDDOWN for Homeless Veterans, Tampa Bay Network to End Hunger, Pinellas Prosperity Partnership, The Direct Service Providers Homeless Networking Group and the Providers Council, appointed to the Local Coordinating Board of the Metropolitan Planning Organization’s Transportation Disadvantaged Program. She is an active advocate for issues the create barriers for people in need and takes a grass roots approach to problem solving including poverty, hunger, transportation, wage theft, identification and access to basic needs.
