Director, Philanthropy and Community Engagement, Taproot Foundation
Kate Effland is the Director, Philanthropy and Community Engagement at the Taproot Foundation, based in the San Francisco Bay Area. In this role, Kate is responsible for the development of creative partnerships and community engagement efforts that support the evolving pro bono movement. Kate joined Taproot in 2010, and in a variety of roles has worked directly with nonprofits, volunteers, and corporate/foundation partners to facilitate the delivery of hundreds of thousands of dollars in pro bono consulting value to nonprofits across the country. Kate holds a B.A. in Government and Politics from the University of Maryland – College Park. Originally from Washington, DC, Kate’s inspiration comes from a philosophy of public service shaped largely by her family and years around the Nation’s Capital.
