General Manager of Student Nutrition, Hillsborough County Schools
Mary-Kate Harrison is the General Manager of Student Nutrition for Hillsborough County Schools. She leads one of the largest school meal programs in the country, serving close to 240,000 meals each day. She has implemented a number of initiatives to expand meal access to children, such as a universal free breakfast program, the elimination of the reduced-priced meal charge for lunch, and alternative service models, such as breakfast in the classroom, second chance breakfast, and neighborhood food trucks for summer feeding. Mary-Kate was the School Nutrition Association’s Director of the Year in 2010. She holds a master’s degree in food science and nutrition from Florida State University and a PhD in hospitality management from Iowa State University.
