Marketing and Community Engagement Manager, Daystar Life Center
Tamara Hernandez is a versatile nonprofit professional with over 14 years of project management experience in the Tampa/St. Petersburg area. Tamara is currently the Daystar Life Center’s Marketing and Community Engagement Manager. She spent 12 years with the American Heart Association managing campaigns in volunteer engagements, leadership engagements, and event organization. Tamara is a person who relates to others, unites them, and develops strong relationships. She is a creative and imaginative person who enjoys developing new methods. In her youth, Tamara grew up in a zip code of Miami, FL where the community was deprived of basic life necessities. She experienced many hardships with her mother and two younger brothers, but one of those experiences was extremely fruitful. Tamara spent her time in a volleyball program developed to prevent children from a life of crime or homelessness. The group had fun and they learned sportsmanship, which provided a healthy physical activity, but also focused on education and obtaining a degree. The program created a deep appreciation of how nonprofit organizations seek to improve the quality of life for the community, and it’s the reason she has dedicated her career to the nonprofit industry.
